Anniversary Celebrations

First Baptist Church of Fuquay-Varina celebrated its 100-year anniversary on Oct. 4 and will continue to celebrate throughout the month of October. A centennial homecoming program will be at 11 a.m. and 3 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 21, at 105 N. West St. Gospel artist the Rev. Luther Barnes will speak at 11 a.m. and Ronald Avery of St. Matthew Missionary Baptist Church will speak at 3 p.m. A centennial banquet will be at 5:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 27, at Benwoods Country Club, 6536 Dornoch Place, Fuquay-Varina. Class

A DVD-based class taught by historian David Barton in the series titled, “American Heritage Thr!ve,” will be at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 24, at Mosaic Church, 270 Towerview Court, Cary. Concert

The Harmony Male Chorus of Holland Chapel African Methodist Episcopal Zion Church will celebrate its 69th anniversary at 2:30 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 21, at 360 Burgess Road, Apex. Many groups will perform.

The Family Support Network of Wake County will hold a Growing a Healthy Special Needs Ministry Conference from 8 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 27, at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, 7000 Creedmoor Road, Raleigh. Fair Trade Store

Fuquay-Varina United Methodist Church will hold its sixth annual Fair Trade Store from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Friday, Oct. 26 and Saturday, Oct. 27 at 100 S. Judd Parkway S.E. Movie Event

The documentary film, “From the Dust” will be shown from 6:45 to 9 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 28, at White Plains United Methodist Church, 313 S.E. Maynard Road, Cary. The documentary seeks to frame the story of human origins in a larger dialogue on how we read scriptures and regard scientific discovery. Toy Swap

The first semi-annual Toy 4 Toy swap will be from 8 a.m. to noon Saturday, Oct. 27, at Hope Chapel, 6175 Old Jenks Road, Apex. Cost is $10. However many toys you bring indicates how many toys you swap. Participant setup will be from noon to 8 p.m. Friday, Oct. 26.
