Sandra “Sandy” Arner, 78, died October 3, 2012. She was born in Lehighton, PA on August 11, 1934. Sandy was an avid tennis player and had a passion for music and travel. She also enjoyed volunteering through groups at her church, Christ the King Lutheran.

Sandy is survived by her husband, Gerald Arner; children, David Arner (Elizabeth) of Henderson, NC, Sheree Kear (Robert) of Harrisburg, NC and Gerald Scott Arner (Shannon) of Wake Forest, NC; grandchildren, Emily Freeman, Ellen Harris, and Jonathan Kear; great grandchildren, Liam and Payton Freeman; mother, Audrey Beltzner Volkert of Lehighton, PA; and brothers, Reese Volkert of Lehighton, PA and Jack Volkert of Johnstown, PA.

She was preceded in death by her father, Russell Edwin Volkert and sister, Sharon Volkert.

A memorial service will be held 2:00 p.m. Saturday, October 20, 2012 at Christ the King Lutheran Church in Cary.

Private inurnment will be in the church columbarium.
