Peggy was born January 19, 1932 in Dalton, GA to the late William Dawson Carter and Ollie Bell King Carter. She was employed at Cary Elementary where she enjoyed serving in the cafeteria for over 15 years. Peggy was a member of Walnut Street Church of Christ in Cary.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, Fred Henson, who referred to her as his "Bride".

Peggy is survived by her daughters, Denise Spruill of Graham; Darlene Wiltzius and her husband, Michael of Cary; and Lisa Bell and her husband, Hugh of Fort Mill, SC; brothers, Bill Carter; and Bob Carter; sisters, Virginia Tinney; Evelyn Edison; and Janice Medlin; 5 grandchildren, Nathan Wiltzius and his wife, Martina; Jennifer Spruill; Ashley Bell; Amanda Wiltzius; and Hugh Bell; and one future great granddaughter.

A funeral service will be held 2:00 pm Wednesday, September 26, 2012 at Brown-Wynne Funeral Home, 200 SE Maynard Road, Cary, NC 27511. Burial will follow the service at Hillcrest Cemetery in Cary. The family will receive friends 1:00-2:00 pm prior to the service at the funeral home.
