SANFORD- Lee County scored three touchdowns in the second half to come from behind and defeat Tri-Nine conference rival Cary 36-33 on Friday.

The contest was postponed twice due to lightning. The Imps (3-4, 2-3) led 26-14 at intermission but could not stop the potent Yellow Jackets offense in the second half.

Lee quarterback Chase Arrington and running backs James Foushee and Ray J. McCauley each scored on runs of 12, 2 and 5 yards respectiuvely to bring Lee back.

The Yellow Jackets (5-2, 3-1) are sitting in a good place in their final season as a member of the Tri-Nine, and have been averaging 34 points per game scoring. Lee is moving to a 3A conference next year.

The game turned in the third quarter when Cary thought they intercepted a pass deep in their territory, but it was ruled a completed pass. Arrington converted the next play for a score to change the momentum.

Cary QB Jordan Dawson threw three touchdowns, two to Trevion Hackney (28 and 23 yards) in the first half.

Marquise Sherrod-Ponds also scored for the Imps on a 39-yard burst.
