Local resident graduates from basic combat training

Crystal Foster has graduated from basic combat training at Fort Jackson in Columbia, S.C.

Foster is the niece of Leanne Foster of Cary and cousin of Natalie Fernandez of Apex. She is a graduate of Apex High School.

Cary residents elected to Saint Mary’s School leadership positions

High school senior Gini Todd has been elected to serve as senior warden and Abigail Ueland has been elected to serve as sophomore class representative on the vestry at Saint Mary’s School in Raleigh. Both students are residents of Cary.

Todd is the daughter of Lorrie and Richard Todd. Ueland is the daughter of Colleen and Mike Ueland.

The vestry serves as the student leadership team for Saint Mary’s chapel and assists the school’s chaplain with the chapel program.

Cary Players to present musical

The Cary Players will open its 11th season with Frank Loesser’s Tony Award-winning musical, “How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying” Sept. 28-30 and Oct. 4-6 at the Cary Arts Center, 101 Dry Ave.

Performances will be at 7:30 p.m. Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays; and 3 p.m. on Sundays. Audio Described by Arts Access on Sunday, September 30. Tickets are $18 for adults; $16 for seniors and students; and $15 for groups of 20 or more people.

Holly Springs student earns Eagle Scout rank

Sixteen-year-old Ted Pride of Holly Springs has earned the rank of Eagle Scout, the highest rank in Boy Scouts.

For his Eagle Scout project, Ted designed and built a 7x7 wooden shed and resurfaced four picnic tables for the West Raleigh Baseball Exchange where he played for many seasons. The shed will be used to store baseball equipment.

Ted is the son of John and Janet Pride and is a junior at Holly Springs High School. He is a member of Boy Scout Troop 413.
