Traffic signal really is useless

Donna Hart nailed it in her Aug. 26 letter to the editor in The Cary News and Southwest Wake News about the useless traffic signal. I agree wholeheartedly with her questioning how the signal light at the intersection of Loch Highland Drive and Kildaire Farm Road was justified. I even wrote a letter about it back in October 2010. I asked, “Who lives in that area with enough pull to get the light installed?” I must have struck a nerve of truth, because someone from traffic engineering called me and said, “The light was justified because of traffic volume in that area.”

You know, he was probably right, but the traffic volume is on Kildaire Farm Road, not out of Loch Highlands Drive. It is my opinion that the $125,000 that it cost the taxpayers of Cary to install this light could have been put to better use! I would like to suggest that the light be removed, but for cost sakes, just put a black bag over it and never use it.
