I wanted to commend reporter Andy Kenney for his recent article in The Cary News regarding the Mormon Church. The article talked about the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints’ plan to build a chapel in Holly Springs. I’m a member of the LDS church, and it’s very exciting to have plans for a chapel in our hometown. We currently drive to Apex to go to church, which is only 15-20 minutes away, but having a chapel in Holly Springs will make us feel more a part of the community.

What touched me the most about Mr. Kenney’s article was this: “[Holly Springs’] 13 worship houses all practice variations of Christianity, as Mormons do.”

Members of the LDS church firmly believe that we are Christian. While we certainly have different theological beliefs from other Christian churches, we also have a lot of similarities. It’s no different than Methodists and Baptists saying they’re Christians but they have differences with each other.

I already live, learn, shop and play in Holly Springs. I look forward to worshipping in Holly Springs too.
