A U.S. Small Business Administration Veterans Franchise Workshop will be from 1-3 p.m. in Room 103 at Wake Technical Community College, 3434 Kildaire Farm Road, Cary. Attendees will learn how to make the transition to business ownership through franchising, local resources that can help them in finding and starting the right business, and traditional and alternative forms of business financing in a tight credit environment. The Western Wake Farmers’ Market will hold a Seasonal Small Plates and Wine Pairings fundraiser from 6-8 p.m. at the Umstead Hotel and Spa, 100 Woodland Pond Drive, Cary. Award-winning Executive Chef Scott Crawford will prepare seasonal small plates using a variety of locally grown ingredients from vendors at the farmers’ market. There will also be a silent auction.
