Cary• Two women pulled off a two-part heist at Toys ’R Us on July 1, according to police reports. One distracted the store manager while the other pried open a display case and took five PlayStation Vita handheld gaming systems, according to police reports. The investigation in the $1,500 theft is ongoing.• Cary Police Department found the tools of crime as they investigated the odor of marijuana at a local Motel Six: Inside a rented room were counterfeit checks, stolen checks and a typewriter, according to police reports. After calling in the Secret Service, Cary officers charged four Georgia residents and one Alabama resident with possession of stolen property, conspiracy to commit a felony, forgery and simple possession of marijuana.Charged on the night of July 3 were Avon Waters, 22, and Rodriguez Fillmore, 22, both of Atlanta, Ga.; Meshondra Davis, 27, of Fairburn, Ga.; Cory Jones, 23, no address listed; and Lonnie Daugherty, 27, of Montgomery, Ala.• Police cleared an earlier burglary in the 200 block of Tate Street by arresting Mohammed Nassar Jilani, 20, of 409 Normandy Street in Cary on July 3.• A watchful neighbor stopped a burglary in progress, according to police reports. After arriving home on the night of July 7, the man spotted people in the backyard of a neighbor’s house in the 100 block of Pleasants Ave. When police arrived, several suspects scattered on foot while one pulled away in a 2007 Ford Focus. With police in pursuit, the driver pulled over and fled on foot across Kildaire Farm Road. Police later used a K-9 unit to locate one subject, and were searching for more as of Monday. The suspects nearly escaped with a big haul: Police found a security safe, an iPod, jewelry, a 42-inch television and a semiautomatic pistol inside the Focus.• Kyle Barlow, 21, is accused of driving 110 mph on a motorcycle on Kildaire Farm Road on the night of July 7. The suspect’s listed address is 203 Hassellwood Dr. in Cary.• Cary Police Department received reports of unforced-entry burglaries at the following locations between July 2 and July 9: the 100 block of Meadow Drive; the 400 block of Devonhall Lane; the 100 block of Overview Lane; the 400 block of Greyfriars Lane; the 100 block of Bogue Court; and the 100 block of Lochwood West Drive.• Cary Police Department received reports of forced-entry burglaries at the following locations between July 2 and July 9: the 100 block of Brannigan Place; the 100 block of Bonnell Court; the 8900 block of Chapel Hill Road; the 1000 block of Nottingham Court; the 800 block of Tranquil Sound Drive; the 100 block of Overview Lane; and the 100 block of Pleasants Avenue.Compiled by staff writer Andrew Kenney
