Apex High School

Students at Apex High School will attend the National Academy Foundation’s annual professional development conference, NAF Next on July 18 in Washington, D.C. The students will present mobile apps created as part of a mobile app curriculum pilot program and competition launched by Lenovo and NAF in January. Apex High School students created the app, Shop Local Raleigh.

Holly Springs School of Dance

Dancers from the Holly Springs School of Dance were recently awarded thousands of dollars in scholarship money at their Spring Concert. Dancers were all awarded scholarships based on their strong technique, commitment, and potential. Many of these dancers will be using these scholarships to study at the American Dance Festival, “The Pulse,” or to help with upcoming costs of their Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade performance.

Local business, Make An Impression, donated a full year’s scholarship to Cecilia Yanez. The Kiwanis Club of Holly Springs awarded Melissa Zazzeri, Assistant of the Year, with a $250 scholarship award. Releve Dancewear presented two $100 scholarships to Ashley Svalina and Logan Macior. A Holly Springs family anonymously donated a $400 scholarship to Theresa Alexander in memory of a family member who loved dance. Mary Bird, Mollie Fisher, Kristyn Tingelstad and Karley Wasaff received $250 scholarships through Springs Dance Company’s solo concert that took place last March. Delaney Robinson received a $100 scholarship and Ellie Chappell received a full scholarship from the producers of “The Pulse” for next season. Katie Mundt and Caroline Markoch both received $200 scholarships from the North Carolina Dance Alliance at their annual event. Katie Schiewe and Anna Martz received full tuition waiver scholarships for unlimited classes at Holly Springs School of Dance for the 2012-13 season.

Em Jacobsson and Savannah Jade Dobbs were accepted into Carolina Ballet’s Summer Intensive . Brianna Steers, Jillian Fitzpatrick, Mary Bird, Emma Kauffman, Mollie Fisher and Ellie Chappell were accepted into the American Dance Festival’s school this summer.
