Cary Academy students serve as House pages

Two Cary Academy students recently served as pages for the N.C. House of Representatives in Raleigh. Pages help deliver bills and amendments for representatives during daily House sessions and committee meetings, offer assistance in individual representatives’ offices and run errands around the legislature.

• Maaya Dev is the daughter of Prakash and Sunita Dev of Cary and was sponsored by Rep. Patsy Keever.

• Isabelle Tamburro is the daughter of Dan and Jennifer Tamburro of Cary and was sponsored by Rep. Jennifer Weiss.

Panther Creek High School graduate earns Eagle Scout rank

Thomas Myers of Cary has earned the rank of Eagle Scout, the highest achievement in Boy Scouting.

For his Eagle Scout project, Myers led over 20 Scouts and several adults in the design and construction of two benches for the faculty at Reedy Creek Elementary School in Cary.

Myers is the son of Rick and Janet Myers and a member of Troop 216. He is a graduate of Panther Creek High School and will be attending the Living Arts College in Raleigh to study 3-D Graphics and Computer Animation.

Apex Jazz Festival seeking musicians

The second annual Apex Jazz Festival is seeking submissions from musicians interested in performing on Sept. 15 along Salem Street in downtown Apex. In addition to jazz musicians this year, the festival is also booking blues artists and possibly some rock artists.

Submissions should include a biography, audio samples and contact information. Performance videos are also appreciated, but not necessary. Deadline for submission is Saturday, June 30. Inquiries and submissions can be directed to apexjazzfest.booking@gmail.com.

Devil’s Ridge Charity Golf Classic to be held July 18

The Men’s Golf Association of Devil’s Ridge Golf Club will hold the eighth annual Devil’s Ridge Charity Golf Classic at 9 a.m. July 18 at 5107 Linksland Drive, Holly Springs. Proceeds will go to the Prostate Cancer Coalition of North Carolina. There will be $1,800 in team prizes, raffle tickets and a silent auction. Participants can support the event by becoming a golf participant or hole sponsor; donating gift certificates, prizes or other items; purchasing raffle tickets or entering the silent auction.
