Police arrest three in prostitution sting

From staff reportsJune 18, 2012

— Police late Friday arrested two women and a man who they said had been running a prostitution operation at the Days Inn near RDU International Airport.

All three people gave Toledo, Ohio, addresses. The women were charged with prostitution. The man was charged with keeping an adult in sexual servitude, which police said is the North Carolina statute used to arrest someone who is believed to be acting as the agent, or pimp, for prostitutes.

Brent Allen Kohlhofer, 30, was held on $20,000 bail after being brought before a magistrate early Saturday. The statute under which Cary vice detectives charged him says someone is guilty if “that person knowingly subjects or maintains another in sexual servitude.”

Ashley Rachel Houck, 23, and Jasmin Raquel Regan, 31, were each charged with maintaining a room for prostitution. Their bails were set at $1,000 each.

Cary detectives said it is not uncommon for prostitution operations to go to a town, get rooms in a hotel near an airport, put out word through the Internet or other sources that they are in business and stay for a few days or weeks, then move on to another place.
