The Cary Academy senior, an all-American in cross country, set a number of records this year.

Graham became the first four-time boys’ or girls’ NCISAA cross country champion, winning this year’s title by a whopping 41 seconds.

He became the ninth North Carolina boys’ runner to break the 15-minute mark in a cross country race, doing so at Charlotte’s McAlpine Park (14:52), then finished ninth in the nation at the Footlocker National cross country meet.

Graham wasn’t done after the fall.

In the spring, he set a new NCISAA record in track and field for the 3,200-meter run (15:09.10), took second in the 1,600-meter run (4:21.26) and was fourth in the 800-meter run (2:00.38).

Graham also was part of the winning 4x800 relay team that set an NCISAA record (8:00.32) and ranks sixth on the North Carolina all-time list.

Graham will be running at Stanford next year, but his legacy won’t soon be forgotten.

“I think most would agree that Thomas is the best male cross country runner in NCISAA history,” said Cary Academy coach Conrad Hall.
