Green Hope coach Bobby Peterson was named 4A girls’ soccer coach of the year by the N.C. Soccer Coaches Association on Sunday.

Peterson guided the Falcons to a 25-1 overall record, with the only loss coming in the state championship game. Green Hope is ranked No. 8 in the nation by ESPN.

It’s a Green Hope sweep for the award, as Andrew Chadwick of Green Hope won the boys’ 4A coach of the year earlier this year.

The NCSCA also handed out all-state teams for each classification. Cary Academy goalkeeper Sydney Branson, a Clemson recruit, was named to the private schools team.

Cardinal Gibbons placed three players on the 3A schools all-state team: Caitlyn Donovoan, Morgan Reid and Christina Gibbons. Making the 4A schools all-state team were Holly Springs’ Dominique Babbitt, Apex’s Paige Reckert and Green Hope’s Alexis Shaffer and Alexis Degler.
