Apex is worth it

In the article “Tax hike on the horizon for Apex” in the May 23 Southwest Wake News, Councilman Scott Lassiter said they’ve only received three emails about the proposed tax hike for Apex.

About seven years ago my family moved to Apex and loves it. On our first trip to the South to look for a new place to live, my wife and I flew into RDU and were driven straight to the Salem Street Soda Shop. We were sold on the town right then and there for our young family.

I never thought I would write to say it’s OK to raise our taxes a bit, but our town offers so much, seems to be run perfectly, and as a casual observer I see no apparent waste. So if you need us to pay another $150 each year to live in such a lovely town, you’ve got my approval – and my vote when the lawn signs start popping up.

I could go on and on with many accolades about the parades, downtown, Department of Public Works, Recreation Department, the police and the town leaders, but space doesn’t allow.

In my opinion, most people don’t like paying taxes because of the excess waste, ridiculous programs and the buffoons managing it all. Thankfully, that’s not the case here in Apex.
