Chatham Animal Rescue & Education will hold its ninth annual barbecue bash and auction from 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday, May 20, at Shady Wagon Farm, 2312 Pea Ridge Road, New Hill.

There will be barbecue chicken, veggie dogs, coleslaw, vegetarian baked beans, collards and hush puppies catered by Carolina Brewery & Grill of Pittsboro.

Silent auction items may be viewed beginning at 5 p.m. with a live auction at 6:15 p.m. with auctioneer W. Tucker Withington.

Tickets are $15 at the door. For an additional cost of $4 for an 8-ounce cup, red and white wine and Sky, Amber, and Bull Pen beers will be available. Proceeds will support CARE’s targeted spay-neuter program and the continuing effort to find homes for unwanted cats and dogs in Chatham County.
