Mrs. Velma Lear Johnson Tevepaugh, age 86, of Cary, widow of William Harve “Bill” Tevepaugh, died Friday April 20, 2012 at Vidant Inpatient Hospice of Greenville.

Funeral services will be held Monday 2:00 at Bethany Baptist Church, 7930 Brushy Mountain Road, Moravian Falls, NC 28654 with the Rev. Roger Elmore and Russell Mann officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1 until 2 at the church prior to the service.

Mrs. Tevepaugh was born February 19, 1926 in Wilkes County to James Franklin and Ester Mathis Johnson. She worked for Austin Foods and was a member of Westwood Baptist Church in Cary.

She was preceded in death by her husband William Harve “Bill” Tevepaugh, three sisters Ruth Tharpe, Hattie Douthit and Annie Lee Jennings, and one brother James “Walter” Johnson.

Mrs. Tevepaugh is survived by four daughters, Allison Smith and husband Mike of Apex, NC, Susan Warren and husband Tyler of Robersonville, NC, Lisa Blalock and husband Sammy of Robersonville, NC, Kelly Tipton of Cary, NC; two sisters, Marie Johnson of Wilkesboro and Virginia James of Roaring River; five grandchildren, Austin Lear Blalock, Zachary Tipton, Christine Warren Keel, Sydney Lamour Smith, and William “Grayson” Smith. Her first great grandchild is due to Christine and Hunter Keel in October 2012.

The family wishes to express their heartfelt gratitude to Inpatient Hospice Care of Greenville, NC.

Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to Bethany Baptist Church, PO Box 749, Moravian Falls, NC 28654 or to Westwood Baptist Church, 200 Westhigh Street, Cary, NC 27513.
