The North Carolina Opera visited Northwoods Elementary School and presented Opera 101 on March 27. The program introduced the students to some of opera’s most famous and familiar music. The four singers and accompanist, led by Jennifer Seiger, also taught the students about the basics of opera through singing and acting out small vignettes from famous operas. They ended the program with an interactive quiz show where the students had to guess if the songs were opera or not. This cultural arts program was sponsored by the PTA and made possible through a grant from the United Arts Council of Raleigh and Wake County.
