A 71-year-old Cary man is accused of sexually assaulting three children, according to the Cary Police Department. David Elton Morde, of 1312 Hampton Valley Road, faces felony charges of taking indecent liberties with a minor, disseminating obscene materials to a minor and a first-degree statutory sexual offense involving a child. Police arrested Morde Thursday at his home; their investigation continues.

William Miller Baker, 31, of Cary, is accused of first-degree statutory rape. In December, just after his release from a prison sentence, a 13-year-old said Baker had abused her in the past, according to police reports. Police took out warrants and arrested Baker on Feb. 21. He had not been in contact with the child since she made the accusation, according to Cary police. Baker's 20-month prison stay for felony child abuse ended Nov. 27.

Cary police are investigating a series of unauthorized credit card transfers from a business bank account. The owner of a TrustAtlantic Bank business account on Friday reported more than $200,000 missing.

The LIDS headwear store at 1105 Walnut St. reported 35 hats stolen in a forcible-entry burglary.

Cary police charged Lowel Peterson, 31, of Garner, with misdemeanor breaking and entering and identity fraud after encountering him at the scene of a reported burglary attempt.

Cary Police Department received reports of forcible-entry burglaries at the following locations between Feb. 21 and Feb. 27: the 100 block of Jamie Court; the 600 block of Pony Club Circle; the 200 block of Hillsboro Street; the 13100 block of Beowulf Lane; the 1100 block of Walnut Street;
