I am opposed to allowing chickens on property within Cary town limits.

Chickens attract natural predators such as opossums, foxes, raccoons, hawks and snakes. A homeowner does not need (these animals to be) attracted to his lot.

Chickens could carry diseases such as the avian flu. These diseases could spread to humans.

Allowing chickens on (town) lots will, or could, affect the market value of nearby property. If such a property is listed for sale, the presence of chickens could eliminate a potential sale. This would result in potential buyer going elsewhere should he decide this is an undesirable feature.
