Sonnenblick will speak to students, sign books and have lunch with the winners of a school poetry contest.GREEN HOPE HIGH SCHOOL The Green Hope High School Athletic Booster Club will hold its annual 5K Fun Run at 9 a.m. Feb. 25. The race will raise money for athletic clubs. Registration is $15 for students, use code "student," and $20 for all other participants. To sign up, visit www.fsseries.com. SMART Technology in the Classroom Level 2, Thursdays, 6:30 to 9:30 p.m., Feb. 16-23, $145 Negotiating Savvy, Mondays, 6:30 to 9 p.m., Feb. 27-April 2, $125SALEM ELEMENTARY SCHOOLSalem Elementary School in Apex held its annual science fair on Jan. 23 in the school cafeteria. Thirty-eight students representing all grades participated in the extra-curricular activity. Science fair winners will have the opportunity to ask International Space Station astronauts questions during the school's scheduled event in March and will receive medals as well as passes donated by the Museum of Life and Science in Durham and the Morehead Planetarium in Chapel Hill. The winners in the 4-5 category will represent Salem Elementary School in the Central Regional-3A Science Fair later this month.SHAKESPEARE COMPETITIONThe Triangle area branch of the English Speaking Union will hold its Shakespeare Competition for high school students from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Feb. 23 at Kenan Recital Hall at William Peace University, 15 E. Peace St., Raleigh. There will be light refreshments and live period music.
