CARY - Two people died Sunday after a wreck in Cary that shut down a major thoroughfare for hours.

Around 10 a.m., the driver of a Saturn on West Chatham Street attempted to turn left onto Southwest Cary Parkway. The vehicle collided with a Dodge Avenger traveling on Cary Parkway, according to a town news release.

The Saturn's driver, Martikia Adams, 22, and passenger Brian Cobb, 26, both of Cary, were pronounced dead at WakeMed. The driver of the Dodge, Meghan Sladek, address not provided, was not transported to the hospital.

Cary Parkway between MacArthur Drive and West Chatham Street was closed until about 5 p.m., according to the release. As of Sunday night, no charges had been filed.
