I have never been in favor of the severely restrictive sign ordinances in place for the Town of Cary. They have placed Cary businesses at a distinct disadvantage compared to surrounding areas, and we have all seen Cary businesses fail because of the inability to attract customers.

Now that the Town Council has seen that they also can't attract customers to the revitalized downtown and need to expand that ability, they are willing to change the rules.

It seems patently obvious that our elected officials are only willing to see a problem when it directly impacts them. They only appear to be willing to compromise when it would benefit them and improve their ability to justify the expenditures on the downtown area.

If the council wants to act in a fair and impartial manner, they will modify the ordinances in a manner that would allow all businesses in Cary a level playing field, not just solve a specific problem for downtown.
