The Wake County Public School System will continue its information sessions designed to walk parents through the process of selecting a school through the new Choice Student Assignment Plan for 2012-13 with a session at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 17, at East Cary Middle School, 1111 S.E. Maynard Road.
The Apex American Legion Post 124 will hold its annual High School Oratorical Contest on Saturday, Jan. 14. Any sophomore, junior or senior who is interested in the contest should contact Mike Sayers at

The Lucy Daniels Center will hold school information sessions for parents interested in learning about its preschool, transitional kindergarten and kindergarten classes for Fall 2012. The Substitute Teachers Association of Wake County will hold a regional meeting from 5:15 to 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 12, at Golden Corral, 6129 Glenwood Ave., Raleigh. RSVP to

West Cary Middle School will hold tours weekly on Thursdays at 9 a.m. until Feb. 23. A tour will also be held at 6 p.m. March 13.
