Kathryn Gates Chase, 53, of 630 Creekridge Drive in Eden, NC, passed away early Tuesday, December 13, 2011 at Morehead Memorial Hospital.

A funeral service was held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, December 15, at Osborne Baptist Church, where she was a member. Burial followed at 3:00 p.m. in Wake Memorial Park, 7002 Green Hope School Road in Cary.

Kathy was born January 20, 1958 in Raleigh, NC, daughter of James Gates and the late Cora Nipper Gates. She was a 1976 graduate of Cary High School and a 1980 graduate of Mars Hill College. Kathy was employed by Rockingham County Department of Social Services.

Surviving are her husband, Ben Edwin Chase of the home; daughters, Leah and Maria Chase of the home; father, James R. Gates of Cary; brother, Ricky Gates and wife, Christy of Fuquay-Varina; nephews, Richard and Patrick Gates; and niece, Lawren Gates.
