Green Hope marching band traveled more than 11 hours to Indianapolis last weekend to compete in Bands of America Grand Nationals competition. On the way, the buses stopped in Lawrenceburg, Ind., for a practice session and (family) lunch.

Lawrenceburg High School Athletic Director Glenn Crocker authorized the use of the football field so the marching band could practice.

Green Hope Band Booster President Teresa Hornaday played flute in the Lawrenceburg High School band, and shifted over to "Tigerettes" color guard squad almost 20 years ago. Her son, Jay Hornaday, is a junior at Green Hope and plays baritone (in the marching band).

(Teresa Hornaday's) mother, Sarah Knippenberg, still living in Lawrenceburg with her husband, helped arrange lunch for the visiting band.

The band continued refreshed and ready for their first time at Bands of America Grand Nationals competition in Indianapolis. Green Hope Marching Band has been a great ambassador for Cary.
