Athens Drive's streak of consecutive conference championships may have ended this season after the Jaguars finished third in the conference standings.
But that didn't mean that the Jaguars had to loosen their grip on the 18-hole conference tournament.
Playing at Crooked Creek Golf Club in Fuquay-Varina, Athens claimed its fifth straight conference tournament title
It also was the second time Jags junior Sarah Bae finished first.
Bae repeated her title from last year with a scorching 5-under round of 66 on the par 71 course.
Middle Creek took second in the tournament, just as they did in the regular season, with Tri-Nine champ Green Hope taking third.
After the conference tournament, the Tri-Nine all-conference team was selected. The top 12 golfers on the season made the team, so long as they did not miss too many matches. Bae averaged just 35.9 strokes per nine holes but was ineligible for all-conference honors after missing two matches.
Fuquay-Varina freshman Catherine Ashworth (36.6 strokes per nine holes) earned the conference player of the year title.
Fellow freshman Nicolette Donovan (37.0), formerly of Green Hope, was second in the Tri-Nine and made the all-conference team.
Donovan and her family moved out of the state with just one regular-season match to go.
Middle Creek placed sisters Kennedy and Britney Smith on the Tri-Nine team, in addition to Betsy Dohrer and MacKenzie Williams. Apex's Kat Jessick, Maria Cassas and Cari Albritton also were honored, as were Athens' Hilary Gugig, Green Hope's Maddie Lee and Sophie Riegel and Holly Springs' Leigha Holt.
The Tri-Nine's top four teams - Green Hope, Middle Creek, Athens Drive and Apex - will compete in Monday's East regional tournament, which takes place at the Duke University Golf Course.
Each Tri-Nine team has at least one golfer in the regional field.
They will have the opportunity to qualify for the state tournament individually.
