The Heart of Carolina Jazz Orchestra will perform at 3 p.m. Saturday at the Sertoma Amphitheatre in Bond Park as part of the Fall Sertoma series.
The Heart of Carolina Jazz Orchestra is a 20-piece band that performs standards from Count Basie, Duke Ellington, Thad Jones, Benny Goodman, Glenn Miller and many others.
The Heart of Carolina Jazz Orchestra has played for thousands of jazz enthusiasts around North Carolina at schools, arts centers, festivals and dances.
More than 35 guest artists have performed at the Heart of Carolina Jazz Society's Temple Theatre Series in Sanford.
As of 2002, the Heart of Carolina Jazz Orchestra's book has more than 240 tunes.
The book includes a carefully considered repertoire of pieces that reflect a range of Big Band Jazz styles and arrangements.
Included are classics such as "Two O'Clock Jump," "Stompin' at the Savoy" and "Frenesi," as well as ballads such as "The Nearness of You," "Imagination" and "September Song."
