FUQUAY-VARINA HIGH SCHOOL

Fuquay-Varina High School will hold its 23rd annual Festival of Bands at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 15. The competition will include 16 marching bands from various high schools mostly in eastern North Carolina. The Fuquay-Varina High School Marching Bengals and the East Carolina University Marching Pirates will perform.

The festival is the primary fundraiser for the Fuquay-Varina High School Marching Bengals. Tickets are $9 for adults, $4 for children ages 5-10 and free for children ages 4 and younger. Tickets will be sold at the stadium box office on the day of the event. Concessions and baked goods will also be available.

GREEN HOPE HIGH SCHOOL

Due to a new policy on collecting money for the PSAT, Green Hope High School will collect the $14 fee from 7 to 7:45 a.m. today, Oct. 12. Students should bring cash in the exact amount or write a check for the exact amount. Checks should be made out to Green Hope High School.

Green Hope High School's Athletic Booster Club will hold its third annual tailgate dinner from 5 to 7:30 p.m. Friday, Oct. 14, after the Green Hope Varsity Football game vs. Lee County. Tickets are $7; a limited number of walk-up tickets will be $8. A prize will be awarded to the best tailgate. To volunteer or donate desserts, visit www.signupgenius.com/go/green91 .

PAGE OF WAKE COUNTY SPELLING BEE

Registration for the second annual PAGE of Wake County Spelling Bee is open. The event will be held March 3, 2012 at the McKimmon Center. Interested schools must enroll by Monday, Oct. 17, with the Scripps National Spelling Bee at www.spellingbee.com.

PANTHER CREEK

Panther Creek High School will hold its Homecoming game against Cary High School at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Oct. 14, at Panther Creek Stadium.

THE NEW SCHOOL MONTESSORI CENTER

The New School Montessori Center will hold its first fall festival from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday, Oct. 14, at 5617 Sunset Lake Road, Holly Springs. It will feature activity booths, prizes, rides, a magic show, raffle and music and Danny's Bar-B-Que plates for $7. SUBSTITUTE TEACHER ASSOCIATION OF WAKE COUNTY
