Advocates for Health in Action will hold a Brains and Bodies Workshop, "In the Dirt: School Gardens," 6:30-8:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 6, at the Brier Creek Community Center in Raleigh.

The workshop will focus on starting and maintaining edible school gardens in Wake County and how gardening clubs and school gardens can be used to encourage students to eat healthy, local foods. Teachers, parents and school staff are invited.

Advocates for Health in Action is a group of more than 50 organizations and community members shaping the environment throughout Wake County so healthful eating and physical activity are the way of life. AHA works by shaping policy and environments that ensure available and affordable access to healthful foods and physical activity for all community members.

The Brains and Bodies Workshop is free but registration is required. For information and to register, visit www. Advocates for Health in Action .org .
