The Western Wake Farmers Market will hold a Pig Pickin' Palooza from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at 1225 Morrisville Carpenter Road. There will be live music, food, entertainment for children, a silent auction and raffle prizes.
Tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for children ages 10 and younger. All proceeds will benefit the Western Wake Farmers Market.
Food from local vendors will include:
hormone-free BBQ pork from Coon Rock Farm
grilled lamb from Little River Ranch
barbecue sauce from Outta the Park
hushpuppies made from Muddy Dog cornmeal
produce from Redbud Farm and Schroederstock
coleslaw from Herons
sweet tea donated by Muddy Dog Roasting Co.
desserts donated by Annelore's German Bakery
okra gumbo from Martin's Curry Rice
and kettle corn donated by Uncle Bob's Nuts
The Shadow Players stage combat group will put on swordplay performances. The band, No Worries, will begin playing at noon. Mayor Harold Weinbrecht and Michelle Muir will both attend. Local vendors and farms have donated items for the silent auction and raffle.
