APEX HIGH SCHOOL

The ninth-grade orientation Cougar Camp will be on Aug. 15 and 16. Here's a breakdown of the sessions:

8:30 a.m. to 11 a.m. Aug. 15, students whose last names start with S-Z.

12:15 p.m. to 2:45 p.m. Aug. 15, students whose last names start with M-R.

8:30 a.m. to 11 a.m. Aug. 16, students whose last names start with G-L.

12:15 p.m. to 2:45 p.m. Aug. 16, students whose last names start with A-F.

ATHENS DRIVE HIGH SCHOOL

Freshman orientation camp will be held from 8:30 a.m. to noon today. A session for parents will be from 8:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. To register, visit the school website and click under the "breaking news" link or call Dr. Steven Miller at 919-233-4023.

CARY HIGH SCHOOL

The 2011 First IMPressions ninth grade orientation will be today.

The morning session, from 8 a.m. to 11:30 a.m., will be for students whose last names start with A-K. The afternoon session, from 12:30 p.m. to 4 p.m., will be for students whose last names start with L-Z. Both sessions will be in the auditorium.

Parent orientation will run simultaneously. Register at caryhs.wcpss.net.

LUFKIN ROAD MIDDLE SCHOOL

A group of students recently competed with the Technology Student Association at the regional, state and national level.

The technology knowledge of Jason Cheng and Brendan Jobe, engineering technology of Zack Helms and Drew Jannings and the artistic abilities of River Riley proved to be a successful combination at the N.C. State TSA Competition held in April.

Here are the top Lufkin Road finishers at the state level:

Cheng and Jobe, third place, challenging technology issues

Helms and Jannings, first place, engineering structure

Riley, first place graphic design, first place pin design, third place T-shirt design

MIDDLE CREEK HIGH SCHOOL

Freshman orientation camp will be from 8 a.m. to noon Aug. 19. For information, call Matt Scialdone at 919-773-3838.

PANTHER CREEK HIGH

Freshman orientation camp will be from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Friday. A parent information session will be from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. For details, call Debbie Ray at 919-463-8656.
