Throughout the area, towns are hosting a plethora of Independence Day activities.
APEXThe town of Apex will hold an "Olde Fashioned Fourth of July" celebration from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Monday in downtown Apex. There will be free games, inflatables, music, a climbing wall, cake walk, clowns, jugglers and karaoke. "Uncle Sam's Parade of Wheels" will be at noon. Decorate your bike, wagon, scooter or anything non-motorized for the parade, and show-up at least 15 minutes prior to the parade at the corner of Chatham and Salem Streets. CARY The Sertoma Amphitheatre in Bond Park will hold an Independence Eve celebration at 6:30 p.m. today.
The Applause Cary Youth Theatre touring troupe and the Cary Town Band will perform.
The Carolina RailHawks will hold an Independence Day celebration following their match at 7 p.m. against the Montreal Impact today at WakeMed Soccer Park. To order tickets, visit

Bond Park will hold Independence Eve celebrations Monday.
There will be a parent and child fishing tournament from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m. Registration begins at 7:30 a.m.
A "Parade in the Park" will be from 10:15 a.m. to 10:45 a.m., with decorations for your bike, trike, wagon or other ride, beginning at 8:30 a.m.
The Applause Musical Theatre touring troupe will perform and there will be family contests for all ages.
Contests include: donut eating, lakeside Olympics, watermelon eating, watermelon seed spitting, and water balloon toss.
An Independence Day Celebration will be from 3 p.m. to 10 p.m. Monday at Koka Booth Amphitheatre.
The Cary Town Band and the N.C. Symphony will perform. Festivities include, the Indy Model Boat Regatta, an ice cream eating contest, kids zone, frozen T-shirt contest and fireworks. Tarps, blankets and chairs are allowed. This event is free, but tables can be purchased. For information, call 919-469-4061.
FUQUAY-VARINAThere will be fireworks and festivities beginning at 6 p.m. today at South Park, 820 S. Main St.
The Craig Woolard Band will perform at 7 p.m.
Kids can enjoy free inflatables, rides and activities.
Fireworks begin at sundown. Bring a chair or blanket. The town of Fuquay-Varina ordinance prohibits animals in the event area, so leave animals at home.
HOLLY SPRINGSThe town of Holly Springs will hold an Independence Day celebration from 5 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. Tuesday at Womble Park.
There will be musical entertainment, inflatables, potato sack races, crafts, face painting, games and fireworks. The fireworks show will begin at 9:15 p.m. People are not allowed to bring their own fireworks, including sparklers. The Holly Springs Police Department will lead a bike and wagon parade around the baseball fields. Kids can decorate their bikes at home or use materials that are provided.

MORRISVILLE There will be a fireworks show from 9:30 p.m. to 10 p.m. today in Morrisville Community Park. Bring chairs, blankets, drinks and snacks, but no glass containers, coolers or alcohol.
The Morrisville Fire Department will prepare the town's annual Independence Day Pancake Breakfast from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m. Monday under the main picnic shelter in Morrisville Community Park. There will be music during breakfast. Presale tickets are $3 adults, $1 children. Based on availability, tickets can be purchased on the day of the event: $5 for adults and $3 for children.
