WINSTON-SALEM - Charlotte Latin won both the boys (101 points) and girls (139) N.C. Independent Schools Atheltic Association 3-A track and field titles, with the Ravenscroft girls (120) finishing second two years in a row. Durham Academy scored 95 and 82 points in the boys and girls respectively.

The Cary Academy boys (77), led by Thomas Graham and Colin Godwin, came in fifth. Graham and Godwin finished first and second respectively in both the 3,200-meter and the 1,600-meter. Graham's times were 9 minutes and 20.71 seconds and 4:21.48, while Godwin's were 9:34.09 and 4:24.78.

Cary Academy's Cameron Walton won in the triple jump (45-4 1/2) and long jump (22-7 3/4).

Boys tennis: The Chargers ended their season 11-11 overall with a 7-2 loss in the NCISAA 3-A tennis semifinals to Charlotte's Providence Day School.

Girls soccer: It was a record-breaking year for Cary Academy's girls soccer. The Chargers finished second in the Triangle Independent Schools Athletic Conference and won their first-ever playoff game with a 1-0 defeat of Charlotte Providence Day School.

In the second round, the 3-A quarterfinals, Cary Academy lost 1-0 to Wesleyan Christian Academy to end its season at 10-6-2. The Chargers had just three seniors on this year's team: Nia Christian, Sarah Roberts and Ashley Harshaw.

Softball: After winning the TISAC title by going through the conference schedule undefeated, Cary Academy's softball team lost in the first round of the state playoffs last Wednesday to Charlotte's Hickory Grove. The Chargers ended the year 10-7.

Boys lacrosse: It was a painful way to end the year for Cary Academy's boys lacrosse team. Not only did the Chargers (10-9) lose 9-8 to Ravenscroft in the first round on May 14, they did so after losing their leading scorer to injury.

After senior Josh Landry, who led the Triangle in goals and points this year, went out of the game with injury, Ravenscroft scored the final four goals.

Landry finished with 84 goals and 32 assists this year.

Baseball: Cary Academy's baseball team won 20 games this year, but faltered in the first round of the 3-A playoffs on May 14. The Chargers lost at Charlotte Latin 4-3 to end their season 20-8 overall.
