Cary

Police believe the fire that burned the playground at Northwoods Elementary School on Friday was an arson. The blaze damaged much of the playground, said Cary Capt. Michael Williams. The police don't know who set the fire, which began at about 4:45 pm, he said. The Cary Fire Department extinguished the blaze.

A truck was stolen from the 5800 block of Tryon Road on Sunday night.

A man's scooter was stolen from the Harrison Pointe Shopping Center Friday night.

An unforced entry burglary was reported Saturday at the 200 block of North Dixon Avenue.

Forcible entry burglaries were reported between April 4 and April 11 at the 100 block of Peg Street, the 800 block of Weldon Ridge and the 1500 block of Walnut Street

Apex

A vehicle was entered at Williams Street and U.S. 1 before 4:31 p.m. March 16. Two money orders totaling $1,000 were taken.

A home was entered on Cameron Woods Drive before 8 a.m. March 20. A clothes dryer was taken from the garage.

Two unsecured vehicles were entered on Towhee Drive before 7 a.m. March 2. $310 was taken.

An unsecured vehicle was entered on the 900 block of U.S. 64 before 11 p.m. March 6. $700 was taken.

Fuquay-Varina

The back door of a home on Hillside Court was kicked in between 6:30 p.m. and 7:20 p.m. April 1. An Xbox 360 video game system and laptop computer were taken.

Holly Springs

An employee of Domino's Pizza at 2110 Crossway Lane is suspected of embezzling funds intended for bank deposit between Dec. 14 and March 27. The total amount taken has not been determined.

A cutting tool was used to take a commercial HVAC unit from a business at 150 Newspaper Way between 7 p.m. March 31 and 1 a.m. April 1.

A second degree rape was reported at Womble Park at 310 Stinson Ave. between 9 a.m. and 9:10 a.m. April 3. The police ask that anyone at the park between 8 a.m. and 10 a.m. April 3 to contact them.
