The U.S. women's national soccer team will face Japan at Cary's WakeMed Soccer Park on May 18 in preparation for the 2011 Women's World Cup in Germany, U.S. Soccer announced Thursday.

The game in Cary will be the second of two matches against Japan, coming four days after a match in Columbus, Ohio.

While the U.S. roster has yet to be set, the current roster for its next set of events in the United Kingdom in March and April features six former North Carolina players, including Meghan Klingenberg, Ashlyn Harris, Tobin Heath, Heather O'Reilly, Yael Averbuch and Lindsay Tarpley.

The U.S. team most recently won the Algarve Cup in Portugal on March 9 and is expected to be a contender at the World Cup held in Germany this June.

"Seeing them warm up here before they go is going to be awesome," said Charlie Slagle, CEO of the Capital Area Soccer League.

Tickets for the U.S.-Japan match at WakeMed Soccer Park will go on sale March 22. Tickets are priced at $18 to $150 in advance, $20 to $160 the day of the match.
