Western Wake high schools had some standout performances at the New Balance Indoor Nationals track and field meet held last weekend in New York.

The Cary High School girls 4x800 relay team added to its legacy by finishing fourth in the national event and breaking their own state record with a 9:20.77.

Cary also finished with a 12:23.78 in the distance medley relay.

Green Hope's girls 4x1600 relay team took second with a time of 21:40.30.

Green Hope's girls 4x800 team finished in 10:09.70, while the 4x400 team finished in 4:10.56.

Apex pole vaulter Audrey Diener cleared 11 feet, 21/2 inches, which tied her for fifth in the event.

Cary's Kway Taylor-Greene ran a 51.81 in the 400-meter dash and the Imps' Bakri Abushouk ran a 4:25.69 in the mile run.

Cardinal Gibbons distance runner Sarah Rapp was fifth in the one-mile run, finishing in 5:03.09.
