Bite attack sends man to jailA Morrisville man who identified himself to authorities as a lay preacher was taken to jail after police said he bit another man on the neck so violently it ripped flesh off.
Jerome Douglas Mayfield, 41, was charged Sunday with two counts of assault, according to arrest reports.
Police said that Mayfield bit Ricky Gulley of Raleigh, "causing a large portion of flesh to be torn away." He is also accused of assaulting Gulley with an eight-inch knife, warrants state.
Woman charged with taking cash From Staff Reports A 40-year-old Wake Forest woman faces 10 counts of embezzlement and 10 related charges after police said she embezzled money from a dental practice with offices in Cary and Pinehurst.
Robbie Forrest Strawbridge was the practice manager at Geeta Bhat and Associates. The patients would pay in cash and she would pocket the cash, police said.
Thomas said they believe Strawbridge took $1,251 between April 2010 and January.
