Cary man dies in wreckState troopers said speed played a role in a single-vehicle crash that killed a 22-year-old Cary man Monday morning.
Jeffrey Tabor Post Jr. of 711 N. Hampton Drive was pronounced dead at the scene, said Sgt. Jeff Gordon of the state Highway Patrol.
The accident occurred just before 8 a.m. on Lake Wheeler Road north of Penny Road, Gordon said. Post was driving a Chevrolet Blazer south on Lake Wheeler when he ran off the pavement and eventually overturned and hit a tree.
Investigating troopers cited speed as a factor, but did not say how fast he was traveling. No passengers were in the vehicle, Gordon said.
