Some area high school athletes chose to have a signing day ceremony at school, while others did it in the quiet of their home.
But no matter how they decided to celebrate last Wednesday, they all had one thing in common - they were faxing in a letter-of-intent to play in college.
Panther Creek led the way with a school-record 10 players all signing on the first day of the winter signing period.
Fuquay-Varina had four football players sign, including Cory Hunter - Wake County's all-time leader in rushing touchdowns. Hunter switched his commitment from the University of Charleston (W.V.) to UNC-Pembroke on the day he was set to sign.
