Students and families from all tracks are invited to Adam's Amazing Race from 5 to 7 p.m. on Aug. 25. It's a chance for students and parents to travel around the school while answering grade-level questions, and avoiding detours, to learn about the school and staff.
Dinner and dessert are provided at no cost.

Daniel Mitchell, a rising senior at Apex High, is traveling to Arusha, Tanzania this summer.
He will help a program for kids from the slums of Arusha called the Nyota Soccer Academy.
Daniel has been collecting soccer cleats and clothing but has not had many donations of size 5 soccer balls. His goal is to take the academy 50 soccer balls. If you have a ball or would like to give a cash donation, call 919-465-2428.
Rising sixth-graders who will attend Apex Middle School are invited to Cougar Camp on Aug. 18 (last names A-L) and Aug. 20 (last names L-Z) from 8 to 11:30 a.m. Cougar Camp is a half-day orientation just for sixth-grade students to become acquainted with the school. On Aug. 17, there will be Meet the Teacher Night for seventh- and eighth-grade students.
Parents of rising ninth-graders can register students for Freshmen Camp at
athensdrhs.wcpss.net. Camp sessions will be held from 8:30 a.m. to noon on Aug. 4 and 11.

Courses offered are: Conversational Spanish I, Mondays Aug. 16 to Oct. 11; Video Editing Using Sony Vegas, Thursdays Aug. 19 to Sept. 16; Race: The Power of an Illusion, Thursdays, Aug. 19 to Sept. 2; ¡VIVA MEXICO!: Mexican Cuisine on Thursdays Aug. 19 to Oct. 7; Word for Windows Intro, Tuesdays Aug. 17 to Sept. 7; Beginning Website Design, Tuesdays Aug. 17 to Sept. 14; Personal Computer and Windows Introduction, Wednesdays Aug. 18 to Sept. 8; Jewelry-making for the Beginner, Wednesdays Aug. 18 to Sept. 15; Elementary Conversational Spanish I, Wednesdays Aug. 18 to Oct. 6.
Summer orientation for incoming freshmen will be held Aug. 4 for last names beginning with A through K, and Aug. 11 for last names beginning with L through Z.
Freshmen will meet from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., and their parents will have an informational session in the auditorium from noon to 12:30 p.m.
There is no registration for orientation. Students should just come to the auditorium at 8:30 a.m. with a writing utensil.

The season begins Monday.

Holly Springs High School cheerleaders will host a clinic on Aug. 21 at the school's gym.
The clinic is open to kindergartners through eighth-graders.
Participants will perform cheers during the first quarter of the Golden Hawks' varsity football game on Sept. 2.
