ADAMS ELEMENTARY

Adams Elementary will hold an open house for the parents and guardians of Track-1, -2 and -3 students on Thursday.

There will be two sessions covering the same material to accommodate parents with more than one child at Adams.

The school will open at 5:45 p.m. for parents to find their child's classroom and the first session will start promptly at 6 p.m.

From 6:40 to 6:50 p.m., parents attending the second session should find their child's classroom.

The second session (same information as this first) will run from 6:50 to 7:25 p.m.

Open House for Track 4 will be held Aug. 12.

APEX HIGH SCHOOL

The Apex High School Class of 1990 will have its 20th reunion on Oct. 9. Call 910-670-3961 or email thbooker@embarqmail.com for details.

Daniel Mitchell, a rising senior at Apex High, is traveling to Arusha, Tanzania this summer.

He will help a program for kids from the slums of Arusha called the Nyota Soccer Academy.

The academy meets on a very rough dirt field just on the edge of slums and has an urgent need for soccer balls.

Daniel has been collecting soccer cleats and clothing but has not had many donations of size 5 soccer balls. His goal is to take the academy 50 soccer balls. If you have a ball or would like to give a cash donation then please contact Daniel at 919-465-2428.

ATHENS DRIVE

Parents of rising ninth-graders can register students for Freshmen Camp at athensdrhs.wcpss.net. Camp sessions will be held from 8:30 a.m. to noon on Aug. 4 and 11.

GRACE CHRISTIAN

Open houses for grades 7-12 meet at the Crossroads Campus every Tuesday at 9 a.m.

Open houses for grades K-6 meet at the Raleigh Campus every Wednesday at 9 a.m.

Families can tour the campus, meet school leaders and ask about the curriculum and programs.

GREEN HOPE HIGH

Summer orientation for incoming freshmen will be held Aug. 4 for last names beginning with A through K, and Aug. 11 for last names beginning with L through Z.

Freshmen will meet from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., and their parents will have an informational session in the auditorium from noon to 12:30 p.m.

There is no registration for orientation. Students should just come to the auditorium at 8:30 a.m. with a writing utensil.

Students or parents who need special accommodations to participate in Falcon freshmen orientation, call 919-380-3700.

Students interested in joining the cross country team can contact coach Mike Miragliuolo at ghfalcons23@aol.com.

Optional workouts take place this summer at Bond Park and Umstead Park.

The season begins Aug. 2.

Participants should have a current physical on file with the school.

HOLLY SPRINGS HIGH SCHOOL

Holly Springs High School cheerleaders will host a clinic on Aug. 21 at the school's gym.

The clinic is open to kindergartners through eighth-graders.

Participants will perform cheers during the first quarter of the Golden Hawks' varsity football game on Sept. 2.

OAK GROVE ELEMENTARY

Information sessions for parents of Track-1, -2 and -3 students will be held from 5:30 to 6:45 p.m. on Thursday.

TURNER CREEK ELEMENTARY

Thirty-two students participated in the end-of-the-year chess tournament at Turner Creek Elementary School in Cary.
