Cary A manager at Planet Smoothie, 90 Cornerstone Drive, Cary, reported to police on July 9 that an employee had been embezzling money from the store. The crimes, which reportedly occurred between Nov. 15, 2009, and July 9, involved the employee skimming money from a cash register. The employee allegedly took $5,000 during the period.
Police arrested four people in connection with a larceny from the Target at 2021 Walnut Street on June 25. Kedran Lamont Bynum, 30; Denaney Chestnut, 40; and Henry Lee Davis Jr., 32, all of Durham, were each charged with shoplifting. A fourth suspect, Shaquana Lavonne Jean Williams, 24, also of Durham, stands charged with aiding and abetting larceny, speeding to elude arrest, careless and reckless driving and failing to yield to blue lights.
Officers said that Target employees were monitoring surveillance cameras about 6:30 p.m. when they noticed two men take several cell phones from store shelves.
Police say Bynum and Davis then wandered elsewhere in the store and removed the phones from their packaging.
All four suspects exited the store minutes later and were seen getting into the same vehicle, police said. A store employee contacted police and provided officers with a description of the suspects' black Honda Accord.
The car was stopped a short time later on Interstate 40. Police recovered from the car two cell phones as well as two televisions. The stolen property was valued at more than $500.
Apex Someone entered three vehicles on Sunny Creek Lane and Creek Glen Way between 8:30 p.m. June 22 and 10:37 a.m. June 23.
Three GPS units, approximately $3 in coins and a cell phone charger were taken.
Seven vehicles were entered on Anterbury Drive, Baberton Drive, Port Haven Drive and Shelter Haven Drive between 7 p.m. June 30 and 11:48 a.m. July 1.
A driver's license, social security card, Naval identification card, concealed and carry weapons permit, four credit cards, a purse, two iPods, two vehicle CD players, a Kel-Tec handgun, holster for the handgun, GPS unit, a Bible, headphones, 50 CDs, a CD case and vehicle owner's manual were among the items reported missing.
Apex police recently charged Joseph Micah Joyce, 29, of 2410 Stephens Road, Cary, with driving while impaired about 2:52 a.m. June 29 at U.S 64 and Lake Pine Drive.
Holly Springs Various items of jewelry were taken from a home on Trayesan Drive between 10 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. June 19.
Police charged Ebone Grace McLeod, 24, of 412 Prince Drive, with possession of cocaine with intent to sell and deliver, possession of marijuana with intent to sell and deliver and possession of drug paraphernalia about 3:57 a.m. June 22 at 401 Prince Drive.
The drugs were discovered in an occupied vehicle parked at a vacant home.
Fuquay-Varina Someone entered three unsecured vehicles on Steelhorse Drive between 10:45 p.m. June 3 and 7:40 a.m. June 4. A debit card and $5 cash were taken.
Someone disabled theft deterrent devices of 36 Xbox controllers at Walmart at 1051 E. Broad St. at about 6:14 p.m. June 6. The items were then thrown over a rear fence and taken.
A debit card belonging to a resident of Hillside Court was fraudulently used between May 29 and 9 a.m. June 8.
Someone fraudulently used a debit card belonging to a resident of North Woodrow Street between May 25 and June 5.
A credit card belonging to a resident of Stroll Drive was fraudulently used to make purchases between May 13 and May 20. It was reported at about 7 p.m. June 8.
Someone entered an unsecured vehicle in a parking lot at 823 N. Main St. between 2 p.m. and 8:55 p.m. June 8. A GPS unit was taken.
Fuquay-Varina police recently charged the following person with driving while impaired: Rafael Lopez, 33, of 113 Powell Drive, charged about 5:20 a.m. June 7 at 1655 N. Main St.
Someone entered a home on South Main Street by breaking a glass door between 6:30 a.m. and 9:16 p.m. June 10. A laptop computer and purse were taken.
A silver 2008 Bashan 150CC scooter was taken from the backyard of a home on Perry Howard Road between 9 p.m. June 21 and 3:30 a.m. June 22.
