Parents of rising ninth-graders can register students for Freshmen Camp at
athensdrhs.wcpss.net.
Camp sessions will be held from 8:30 a.m. until noon on Aug. 4 and 11.
The Wake County Public School System will offer a digital photo class at Athens through its Lifelong Learning Program.
The class covers the basics of working with digital photos on your computer: Downloading photos, manipulating them to enhance their appearance, adding to printed documents, creating a slide show, attaching and sending via e-mail and organizing and storing on a computer. The class will meet on Thursdays through July 22 from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. Cost is $85.

Open houses for grades K-6 meet at the Raleigh Campus every Wednesday at 9 a.m. Families can tour the campus, meet school leaders and ask about the curriculum and programs. For more information, visit

Summer orientation for incoming freshmen will be held Aug. 4 for last names beginning with A through K, and Aug. 11 for last names beginning with L through Z. Freshmen will meet from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., and their parents will have an informational session in the auditorium from noon to 12:30 p.m. Students or parents who need special accommodations to participate in Falcon freshmen orientation, call 919-380-3700.
Students interested in joining the cross country team can contact coach Mike Miragliuolo at
ghfalcons23@aol.com. Optional workouts take place this summer at Bond Park and Umstead Park. The season begins Aug. 2. Participants should have a current physical on file with the school. Forms are available

Holly Springs High School cheerleaders will host a clinic on Aug. 21 at the school's gym. The clinic is open to kindergartners through eighth-graders.
Participants will perform cheers during the first quarter of the Golden Hawks' varsity football game on Sept. 2.
