An elderly homeowner on Seabrook Avenue contacted police last week after she fell victim to a scam.

The 81-year-old victim told officers that a younger woman visited her home on June 12 posing as a representative of Waste Management.

The suspect told the homeowner that she had come to collect payment for a dumpster that Waste Management had provided to a contractor who repaired the woman's roof a few months prior.

Police said the victim was told to make her check payable to the suspect, who would then issue a check to Waste Management.
