Police in Cary are investigating a case of prescription fraud that occurred on May 20 at Target, 2021 Walnut Street.

Officers said that a woman called the store's pharmacy and posed as a doctor.

The suspect called in a prescription for hydrocodone.

Investigators believe the incident is likely related to a series of similar cases elsewhere in North Carolina.

Police charged Guadalupe Aguirr Rodriguez, 41, of 3755 Old U.S. 1, in New Bern, with felony larceny by shoplifting and five counts of contributing to the delinquency of a minor.

Police say the incident happened about 7:45 p.m. on May 19 at Kohl's, 1301 Beaver Creek Commons Drive. She is suspected of stealing various jewelry and clothing from the store with the help of minors.

Fuquay-Varina

Someone fraudulently used a debit card at a gas station at 100 E. Broad St. between 5 p.m. April 30 and 8:33 a.m. May 7. The card belonged to a Holly Springs resident and was used to obtain $100 cash.

The glass door of a home on Starfield Court was pried open between May 15 and May 23. Two televisions, 15 pairs of shoes, two lamps and a microwave were taken.
