The following students were honored for integrity: Morgan Allen, Claire Buisson, Teaira Cleare, Zachary Esposito, Jackson Foltz, Danielle Garver, Johunna Gatlin, Mikaela Grady, Sophia Ho, Benjamin Hollering, Jacob Kadan, Amanda Kalafian, Zachary Kanady, Erin Leonard, Jaylen Nobles, Hannah Siegel, Ana Suarez Arellano, Jason Terwey, Jacob Townsend and Samuel Weaver.
The school's production of "Little Shop of Horrors" will run from April 15 to 17. Tickets at the door will be $10.
Sixth-grader Elliott Parker won first place at the North Carolina Central Regional Science Fair in the category of biological sciences. Parker competed against students from the following counties: Durham, Granville, Wake, Vance, Warren, Johnston, Wilson, Nash, Edgecombe, Halifax and Northampton. The next level of competition is the North Carolina Science and Engineering Fair, which will be held at Meredith College in Raleigh on March 26 and 27.
Davis Drive will hold this year's Laps of Love, a fundraiser for Relay for Life and the American Cancer Society, on April 9. A survivor lap starts at 8 a.m. Then the different grade levels take turns walking laps around the carpool lane. Students buy wristbands and buttons that identify the person for whom they are walking.
Popcorn, lemonade and cookies will be on sale.
The school is hosting the Second Annual Chairman's Cup Invitational Golf Tournament at Prestonwood Country Club on March 29. If you'd like to get involved to play golf with a foursome or to pursue sponsorship, contact Victoria Cash at 919-747-2020.
Laurel Park Elementary competed in the Odyssey of the Mind eastern regional tournament and will be sending two teams to the state finals in Charlotte in April. The top two teams in each division advance to the State Finals. Laurel Park's Nature Trail'R team (Div. 1A) and Column Structure team (Div. 1B) each took second place.
Odyssey of the Mind is an international educational program that teaches creative problem solving. Team members solve problems that range from building mechanical devices to presenting their own interpretation of literary classics. Thousands of teams from the U.S. and 25 other countries participate in the program.
Middle Creek High School will collect materials until Thursday to be send to deployed service members in Iraq and Afghanistan. The Youngsville chapter of Blue Star Mothers and students in the National Honor Society will help pack the boxes on Friday.
Students Drew Garfield and Sean Brosnan collected over $900 for an American Red Cross relief fund for Haiti earthquake victims. As part of their black belt training, they were required to do a service project. When the earthquake struck Haiti, they knew they wanted to help. They posted notices on their neighborhood message boards and spent four afternoons going door-to-door asking friends, family and neighbors to donate to the American Red Cross.
Panther Creek will host its annual talent show, "Panther Creek's Got Talent," at 7 p.m. on Friday and Saturday.
The Spring Book Fair will run Monday through Thursday from 8:45 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Friday from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. There will also be family hours on Thursday 6 to 8 p.m.
The next PTA meeting will be March 25 at 7 p.m. in the Media Center.
Resurrection Lutheran Middle School presents "Romeo and Winifred," a spoof of "Romeo and Juliet" on March 25. Tickets are on sale through Monday and can be purchased in the school lobby, 100 Lochmere Drive West, Cary. Prices are $5 for adults and $3 for children under 12.
