APEX ELEMENTARY

Got Books? Apex Elementary will take them for a children's book drive March 8-13. Bring gently read children's books to Apex Elementary, 700 Tingen Road. Look for the book drive bins in the school office and outside the school library. A carpool drop off will also be available during the book drive.

APEX HIGH

Seniors Daniel Swartz and Gary Meyer placed first and third, respectively, at the Wake County PTA Council's Reflections program in December. The PTSA will recognize all participants of this year's Reflections program and present awards for winning entries at a reception at 7 p.m. Monday in the Media Center. Doors will open at 6:45 to view the entries and to meet the student artists.

CARDINAL GIBBONS HIGH

On Saturday, the students of Cardinal Gibbons High School will present Catwalk for Cancer, a fashion show and auction with proceeds going to the Breast Cancer Research Foundation. The auction starts at 6 p.m., the show is from 7 to 9 p.m. Tickets are $10, and can be purchased at the door. This event is open to the public, and all proceeds will be donated to the foundation.

CARY ACADEMY

The Middle School Robotics Club team won first place for Best Robot Design at the regional First Lego League competition in Greensboro on Feb. 19. The students competed against 29 other teams in robot performance, technical design, teamwork and project presentation.

The seventh-grade class has partnered with a local nonprofit, Sustain Foundation, to raise money for scholarships for students from Sakina Village in Tanzania. Students raised money for nine scholars through a wristband sale.

Five students have been chosen for the China Student Global Leadership Institute: Alisha Jarwala, Harry Lambert, Miriam Rosen Robert Daniel Smith and Andrew Tie.

CARY HIGH

Cary High Performing Arts presents "You're A Good Man Charlie Brown" at 7 p.m. Thursday, Friday and Saturday in the auditorium. Tickets are $5 for students, $10 for adults, and can be purchased at the door or by calling 919-462-6816.

DAVIS DRIVE MIDDLE

Seventh-graders Seth Maslowski, Gavin McCulloch and John Roach were on the 4x100-yard relay swim team that won a gold medal at the Junior Olympics last month. They broke the state record with a time of 4:08.72.

GRACE CHRISTIAN

The Lady Eagles won the Carolina Christian Conference Tournament Championship in their first year of membership. Junior Ashley Clark, who scored 24 points in the championship game, was named tournament most valuable player. Sophomores Anna Green and Lizz Wilson were named to the all-tournament team.

The school is hosting the Second Annual Chairman's Cup Invitational Golf Tournament at Prestonwood Country Club on March 29. If you'd like to play golf or be a sponsor, contact Victoria Cash at 919-747-2020.

MIDDLE CREEK HIGH

Middle Creek High School will collect materials from March 8 to 18 to be sent to deployed service members in Iraq and Afghanistan. The Youngsville chapter of Blue Star Mothers and students in the National Honor Society will help pack the boxes on March 19. The Blue Star Mothers will also pay for shipping. Last year eighty boxes were mailed, and organizers hope to send more this year.

THE NEW SCHOOL MONTESSORI CENTER

The school will have an open house from 2 to 4 p.m. on Sunday, March 14, at 5617 Sunset Lake Road, Holly Springs. For information, call 919-303-3636.

THE RALEIGH SCHOOL

The Raleigh School collected $3,564.98 in pennies, nickels, dimes and quarters for "Save the Children."
