Cary

A homeowner on Waverly Hills Drive told police that he had been defrauded of an $800 deposit for a landscaping project.

The victim said that the landscaper, whose company was not identified in a police report, met with him in February to discuss installing a stormwater drainage system. Days after giving the landscaper a deposit for the project, the suspect called the victim to back out of the project. Police said the victim has been unable to recoup his deposit money.

Police are searching for a thief who stole $100 from a Victoria's Secret store at Cary Towne Center mall on Feb. 25.

Officers said the suspect pried open a cash drawer and took a handful of cash, including $20 and $5 bills. The suspect is described as a 5-foot-5 inch male weighing about 140 pounds.

He was last seen wearing a navy blue hat and a tan or beige winter coat.

A female shopper at PetSmart in The Centrum shopping center on Walnut Street called police on Feb. 26 to report a man who had exposed himself in front of the store.

Officers said the suspect pulled into a parking space near the front entrance and began performing a lewd act.

He is described as a male between 5-foot-6 and 5-foot-8-inches tall and weighing between 160 and 180 pounds.

On Feb. 27 at 5:26 a.m., an employee of a Harris Teeter store on Grande Heights Drive reported that someone had burned a stack of plastic pallets located behind the store.

Police said they are treating the incident as a case of arson.

Police charged Joseph Michael Anderson, 20, of 1001 W. Lady Diana Court, with driving while impaired, carrying a concealed weapon, possession of marijuana, possession of cocaine, possession with intent to sell or deliver and a series of traffic violations at 4:36 p.m. Feb. 19 at 73 Hunter St.

Officers seized approximately 4 grams of marijuana, 1 gram of cocaine, 14 dosage units of Clonazepam, 9 dosage units of expected ecstasy, 6 dosage units of an unknown substance, a 5.5-inch butcher knife and various drug accessories including baggies, straws and a razor blade.

Someone entered Lee's Dry Cleaners at 501 N. Salem St., Suite 103, by breaking a glass door between 1 p.m. and 5:51 p.m. on Feb. 21. A digital camera was taken.

Fuquay-Varina

Someone entered the rear door of a commercial building at 2912 N. Main St. between 5 p.m. Feb. 12 and 8 a.m. Feb. 15. Among the items taken from the building were a Makita generator, a drop cord and $1,208 in miscellaneous electrical equipment.

A counterfeit $20 bill was passed at Chick-fil-A, 1460 N. Main St., between 8 p.m. and 10:31 p.m. Feb. 19.

An unsecured vehicle was entered on Balfour Downs Circle between 9:30 p.m. Feb. 13 and 12 p.m. Feb. 16. Items taken included a cell phone, an iPod and wooden roses.
