CARY - Granville man charged with larceny

Police charged a Granville County man with stealing a 2,000-pound tractor from a construction site on O'Kelley Chapel Road in December.

Bradley Lane Tucker, 28, of 3178 Range Road in Stem, faces one count of felony larceny in the theft, which occurred on Dec. 6. Capt. Michael Williams of the Cary police department said Tucker's arrest came within days of a police request for the public's help in identifying two people pictured in a surveillance video and a photo taken near the crime scene.

The identity of the second person remains unknown.

Since July, police have investigated more than 75 larcenies from construction sites around Cary. Williams said some of those thefts have occurred near O'Kelley Chapel Road, north of where N.C. 55 meets Interstate 540.

"There's more out toward [N.C.] 55 because there's more development out that way," Williams said.

He said police are currently looking into the possibility that Tucker could be linked to other thefts in the area.

Moonlighters to remember Chiklis

The Moonlighters will perform a free concert at Cary's Herbert C. Young Community Center next month.

It's a memorial to celebrate Charlie Chiklis, who founded the band two decades ago. Chiklis died of cancer on Aug. 31. The concert will celebrate his life, his music and the contributions he gave to the Cary community.

"We're excited about coming together and using music to remember Charlie," Sarah Preston, Cary's performing arts coordinator, said in a statement. "From the stage to the dance floor, we hope to capture his spirit and end the night with large donation to the American Cancer Society."

The Moonlighters are a dance band with a broad repertoire of music including swing, foxtrots, waltzes and Latin tempos. The band also tackles shag, soft rock and country music arrangements.

The show will be at 7:30 p.m. on March 5. The community center is at 101 Wilkinson Ave. Admission is free. Donations will be collected in memory of Chiklis and donated to the American Cancer Society.
